Course Descriptions
ART 3314: Special Topics in Japanese Ceramics (Prof. Kelly)
In-depth discussion of special topics in studio art and art history with special attention to areas of the instructor's expertise. Course can be repeated with each variation of topic.
Upon the completion of this course, students will be able to demonstrate the following outcome-based learning skills:
1. Increased awareness of key artists working within the scope of the course (3.2).
2. Knowledge of art practice trends within the scope of the course (3.1, 3.2).
3. Awareness of theory and philosophy influential to artists working during this era (3.1, 3.2).
4. Be better equipped to discuss works of art in an academic context (3.1, 3.2).
5. Show development in writing about art (3.1, 3.2).
MCOM 3120: Special Topics in Film – Global Filmmaking (Prof. Jackson)
This course will focus on specific topic in film production reflecting industry trends, new technologies, and/or student interests.
Upon the completion of this course, students will be able to demonstrate the following outcome-based learning skills:
– Understand the topic discussed and its relation to film production.
– Recognize how the topic can be applied in practice.
– Be aware of current industry trends and how to adapt.

- At times it can take 6-8 months for your passport application to be processed, so apply early.
- If you already have a passport, check to make sure that it does not expire within 6 months of your RETURN date. You may not be allowed into the host country by immigration officials if it expires in less than 6 months.

- Attend required orientation seminar (dates TBA)
- An orientation seminar for all students traveling abroad will be offered during February. The seminar will cover logistical concerns (university paperwork, passports, travel health insurance, etc.), safety while traveling and will prepare you to get the most out of your travel study experience.
