Grants and Sponsored Research

Piedmont University’s Office of Grants and Sponsored Research (GSR) provides administration, compliance, and educational support for faculty and staff who are pursuing opportunities for funded research or advancement by helping to locate, secure, and manage external grant funding. The GSR acts on behalf of the University with sponsors on all matters pertaining to funding awards and the disposition of awards, providing project management assistance spanning the entire grant cycle.

A grant is an amount of funds provided by a government or private entity to organizations or individuals seeking help with things such as innovative research and community improvement.

A grant is provided to those requestors who meet certain qualifications and whose proposals ensure the program will be successful. Recipients are required to report progress towards the successful implementation of the program as outlined in the proposal. A gift is given to a recipient with no expectations of reporting.
