A Welcome from the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council
Piedmont University Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement
At Piedmont University, Diversity is recognizing and embracing that each individual is unique and recognizing their individual differences. These differences include, but are not limited to: ethnicity, race, language, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity, age, military experience diversities, and national origin.
At Piedmont University, Equity is recognizing and embracing that we don’t all start from the same place and there are uneven starting places. We acknowledge these uneven places and seek to correct the imbalance.
At Piedmont University, Inclusion is recognizing and embracing we are “one” and every student, staff, and faculty member is valued, respected, and treated with dignity regardless of their differences.
At Piedmont University, we are committed to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for all.
A message from the DEI Council
Piedmont’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Council was established to ensure that Piedmont provides a supportive and inclusive environment for all identities for faculty, staff, and students in the Piedmont community.
We commit to enhance understanding of diverse identities in order to educate the Piedmont and surrounding communities. We commit to support and advocate for the entire Piedmont community. We commit to cultivating mutual respect, empathy and understanding through education and initiatives to develop global leaders with diverse identities.
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council will continue to assess the institution’s policies, practices, and programs in a timely manner to ensure that its diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives are effective.
