Museum Family Workshop: Drawing in the Gallery

Featuring artist Becky Murphy

Join Cornelia Elementary School Art Teacher Becky Murphy in drawing exercises that will introduce students to the drawing basics that utilize works of art in the museum collection. This event is free and open to the public. Adults are required to accompany children.

Becky Murphy is the art teacher at Cornelia Elementary School and Piedmont University alumna. Murphy is actively involved in the community, having organized a group exhibition of student art from Clarkesville Elementary at Piedmont University in May 2022 and led her students in contributing to a community mural in downtown Cornelia in 2024. Known for her kindness in the classroom, Murphy has made a significant impact on her students. Clarkesville Elementary art teacher LaDonna Canup observed that Murphy’s 2022 student exhibition was particularly influential: “She gave them an opportunity to shine. She made these students feel like superstars.”
