Great Composers Concert
The Great Composers Concert is a standout event that celebrates the timeless brilliance of classical music. Featuring exceptional performances of works by some of the world’s most renowned composers, this concert offers an inspiring experience for music lovers and the Piedmont University community. We are proud to present this remarkable showcase of musical talent year after year and to share the beauty of these masterpieces with our students, faculty, and guests.
This year's Great Composers Concert will be directed by Bobby Ivey, Piedmont University Assistant Professor and Director of Choirs, featuring the Piedmont Chorale.
The French composer Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924) was one of the foremost French composers of his time, influencing many 20th-century composers. His Requiem is unique because it leaves behind the anguish, loss, and horrors typically associated with Death and Judgement Day. Fauré concentrates on the true meaning of the word “Requiem” or “rest.” His Requiem is about peaceful acceptance and release, and the music is serene, elevating, and comforting.
The Great Composers Concert will be performed on Saturday, April 26th, at 7:30 PM in the Piedmont University Chapel.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and students. Ticket sales support our music students and allow us to continue to provide the community with exceptional musical performances.
