While picturesque views of the North Georgia mountains are one of the best parts of being a Piedmont student, we understand that visiting or attending campus in person may not work for you. That’s why Piedmont offers an expanding selection of online degree program options.
No matter where in the world they call home, our online students enjoy the quintessential Piedmont experience, defined by small class sizes and personalized attention from faculty. In this environment, students make meaningful connections with themselves, their coursework, and one another — all from the convenience of home.
To ensure the best experience for our online students, online programs are restricted to non-residential Piedmont students.
Online programs are restricted to non-residential students only.

Student Complaint Process
A non-resident of Georgia enrolled in an online-only program at Piedmont University who wishes to file a complaint should follow the Student Complaint procedure outlined in the appropriate academic catalog. If, after exhausting internal grievance procedures, Piedmont University has not responded to the complainant’s satisfaction, or a satisfactory remedy has not been found, the complainant may contact GA-SARA for further investigation into the issue. The GA-SARA Student Complaint form may be found at https://gnpec.georgia.gov/student-resources/student-complaints/ga-sara-online-student-complaint-form.

There are three types of online courses: online synchronous (SYNC), online asynchronous (ASYNC), and hybrid.
An online synchronous (SYNC) course holds no face-to-face sessions; however, a minimum 25 percent of course sessions are conducted synchronously (at the same time online). Online courses use the current, official college learning management system as the primary platform for content delivery and communication.
An online asynchronous (ASYNC) course holds no face-to-face or synchronous (at the same time online) sessions. Online courses use the current, official college learning management system as the primary platform for content delivery and communication.
A hybrid course (HYB) holds a minimum 25 percent (25%) of meetings face-to-face, with the remaining course sessions held online either synchronously or asynchronously. An initial, introductory face-to-face or online meeting may or may not be required. Hybrid courses use the current, official college learning management system as the primary platform for content delivery and communication.
Yes. A full list of technical requirements to participate on online or hybrid courses can be found here.
The primary cost savings in an online program versus a residential program is you do not have to be on campus for courses. While there is no difference in cost for a graduate program, undergraduate programs online do offer discounted per-hour tuition rates. For a full list of the most recent tuition and fees, go here.
