Piedmont University Hosts 4th Chopin Academy of Atlanta Music Festival
The Piedmont University Conservatory of Music will host the 4th Chopin Academy of Atlanta Music Festival on Sunday, June 23, in the Piedmont University Chapel.
The community is cordially invited to attend. Admission is free.
Since 2021, together with the Chopin Society of Atlanta, Musik21 Conservatory has invited talented young pianists from the metro Atlanta area to participate in a unique summer musical program that offers elite individual piano lessons and Master Classes with internationally renowned concert pianists, culminating in a day of performances at Piedmont University. Select students will continue the program at the Chopin Academy in Vienna.
In 2023, the Chopin Academy of Atlanta initiated the ambitious project of presenting all Chopin works. The first performance featured 17 Waltzes of Frédéric Chopin, performed last summer at both Piedmont University and at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York.
This summer, the concerts will include Chopin's complete Preludes, Op. 28, and his four Ballades. In addition, there will be music concerts by various other classical composers, and the day will conclude with a performance of three Bach keyboard concertos featuring Festival Soloists who will perform with the Chopin Academy Chamber Orchestra, conducted by John Dodson.
