Piedmont University Golf Tournament Tees Off June 6
The 34th Annual Piedmont University Coach Cave Memorial Golf tournament will tee off on Monday, June 6, at Laurel Springs Golf & Country Club in Suwanee, Georgia.
Presented by Coca-Cola United of Gainesville, the tournament is named for the late Leon O'Neal Cave, who served as a coach and athletic director at Piedmont from 1948 to 1983. All proceeds benefit the O’Neal Cave Scholarship and Piedmont athletics programs.
Entry fees are $150 per player or $600 per foursome and include green fee, cart, range balls, drink tickets, raffle entry, goodie bag, lunch and more. Prizes will be given to first-, second- and last-place teams, and golfers will also have the chance to win prizes on each par three—including a $50,000 Hole-In-One challenge sponsored by South State Bank.

Registration and range balls begin at 9:30 a.m. with a shotgun start in the scramble format beginning at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will provided at your cart. Play is expected to conclude by 3 p.m.
Laurel Springs Golf Club is located at 6400 Golf Club Drive, Suwanee, GA and was designed by famed golfer and course designer, Jack Nicklaus. The course boasts deep green fairways, sparkling blue ponds and scenic landscaping in a private setting. The course is a challenging and beautiful par-71 layout, featuring rolling hills, tree-lined fairways, and undulating greens, protected by lakes and creeks.
About Coach O’Neal Cave
During his 36 years at Piedmont, Coach Leon O’Neal Cave served as athletic director, senior coach of men’s varsity basketball, supervisor and manager of the Piedmont golf course, and various intervals as Dean of the College and Dean of Men. During those years he inspired both students and younger coaches by his example of good sportsmanship, clean living, and right thinking. Cave’s professional honors included presidency of the Georgia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GIAC) and GIAC Coach of the Year in both basketball and baseball. He is memorialized in the O’Neal Cave scholarship established at Piedmont University. The Coach Cave Memorial Golf Tournament is held annually in his honor.
