Magazine ranks Piedmont top private college in Georgia
Piedmont University has been rated the top private college in Georgia by James Magazine. Published in the magazine’s July/August “Education” issue, Piedmont ranked ahead of nine other private colleges.
The popular Georgia magazine is published six times a year and covers business, education, and politics in the Peach State. James also ranked Georgia’s universities and technical schools. The magazine said the rankings are based on admission standards, academic and career placement, and “consultations with prominent education and business leaders around the state.”
The ranking was the latest in a string of accolades for Piedmont.
Last fall, the college advanced five spots in the annual US News & World Report college guide. The popular publication ranked Piedmont the fifth best “Regional University” in Georgia. In the much larger 12-state South Region, Piedmont was ranked 63, compared to 68 last year. Piedmont was also the second-highest ranked Georgia institution in the South Regional “Best Value” category.
Wallet Hub, a popular personal finance website, recently ranked Piedmont the fifth best institution of higher learning in Georgia behind Georgia Tech, Emory University, the University of Georgia, and Mercer University. In its analysis the website gives weighted consideration to cost and career outcomes.
“Piedmont is a thriving, dynamic institution,” said Piedmont President James F. Mellichamp. “Our enrollment has been steadily increasing and we continue to add new academic programs that match the interests and demands of students and parents. Around the state and region, our leaders are taking notice. This ranking is a reflection of Piedmont’s rising profile.”
